October Poetry: Fall Mornings by Jordan Age 10 My heart was famished as the sun rose very early, I was upset! Even though my very thoughtful parents soothed me I was still very unhappy. As I stepped outside, The cool breezy air refreshed my soul and led me to happiness! The air smelled of a beautiful perfume and my hair was being blown everywhere! The moist and freezing ground startled me as I lay and watch the clouds flow by and listen to the tree's and water's beautiful songs as they wisp around quietly. I don't know what I was thinking this morning when I cried and shouted. This is a beautiful day. Twighlight by Sarah Age 14 The wind blows swiftly through the trees; It slides right passed me with great ease. The sun is setting in the west; The time has come for her great rest. The street lights turn on one by one; To light the way without the sun. The Scary One by Megan Age 12
Ghosts, Goblins, Ghouls of green, happily haunting on Halloween. Witches wandering through the night, brewing up a scary fright. The Scarecrow by Kendall Age 7 The scarecrow is a scary fellow,Even though he is all yellow,When crows come from all around,They took one look and all fall down. Sad Eyes by Courtney Age 12
I miss you I hope you miss me As much as I miss you I miss the way you laugh I miss the way you run I miss the way you smile at me Walking down the street alone makes me miss you even more I wish you'd call me I wish you'd write me I wish you'd show me that you care about me I wish you were here with me You know I love you so why don't you call me I like it when you call I like it when you write me I like it when you are here with me And when you are not I cry and cry and cry. Moonlight by shaleena Age 16 Moonlight, Moonlight bring my daddy back tonight back in sight not in the light I really need my daddy now to teach me things and show me how I never really realized then what bad of shape that you were in you knew how long you had to live so love you knew you had to give But so young you had left me why you died I could not see in my dreams I keep you there in the finest of my care Together soon we will be with out father, how great is he moonlight, moonlight bring my daddy back tonight back in sight not in the light. That Land by catie Age 11 I wish I could go to a land with lots of animals and kids playing in the sand. Where bunnies hop and birds chirp, and nobody cares if drinks are slirped. Or,a place where everyone laughs, and everything is bits and halfs. OH I wish I could go to that land, where all the people lend their hands. But America is just fine for me, where I have the freedom of what I want to be. When The Moon Shines Back by Kylie Age 8
When the moon shines back on the earth, then people say the beauty of the dark lying around the sky but they don't know why. I'll find out, I'll figure the clue but one thing I wont do is tell you. But one thing where the secret lies is in the soul of me and you. When the day comes I speak of you in my heart. The circle of space, the dream I'll face, the queen of the earth and sun, the moon of history the key to my heart. I'll find out, I'll figure the clue but the one thing I wont do is tell you. The secret is in my heart. I knew from the start I'll find you here in my soul forever and ever My Sore Toes by Jane Age 17
Several years ago I stubbed my toes, They turned weird colors and were really gross, I went to the doctor and he said to wait, So I waited a while and this was my fate, I had a high fever and a terrible cough, And a few days later both of my toes fell off, Now you have heard the story of my life, I have eight toes and not a wife, Next time you've sore toes and a terrible cough, You better watch out because your toes just might fall off! poetry by melissa Age 8

I cried today for the people who are gone I cried today for the people lost that dawn It is now a week and a day after, the hate and anger here As is the sorrow, which will never leave, I fear A week and a day after, my heart and prayers there With the families who've lost loved ones and the feelings they can't share A week and a day after, I'll never forget that day It brought this country to its knees and left it in dismay A week and a day after, I know we will survive We're a country full of strength and a country full of pride. God Bless America! Fall by Ashly Age 13
As I look out my window, I see different color leaves fall to the ground. Colors such as red, orange, brown, and sometimes green, I fell winter is almost here. So I run out of the house, to jump in the leaves. As I land different color leaves float in the air, and the bare tree limbs shake. As I get up from the leaves and wipe them off of me. I go back into my house and look out my window. Another Year Another Day Another week Another Way I walk away from the window and say "What a wonderful day." HERE COMES FALL! by Jamie Age 8
Fall is here. Lets have a cheer. See the colorful leaves, time to roll down your sleeves. The cooler weather is near, soon the snow will be here. Longer nights and shorter days, and no more sunshine rays. Just look around and see the beauty, time for mother nature to do her duty. But remember, it wont take long, before we hear the birds sing their song. Halloween by Lindsay Age 10
The chills happen to rush through your mind, As you touch the ground, not knowing what to find, A goblin, a witch, a ghoul, A freaky black cat that is up for a tool, Now, do you still want to go and trcik-or-treat, and be very careful of what you'd eat. Lines by Mollie Age 11
LINES Just a bunch of squiggles Straight ones that like to wiggle Short, fat, long, and squiggly Pointy, bendy, thin and wiggly Originality - that's what lines have got All different- not like the dot Dots only have one way to draw them But with lines you can paint a whole art gallery with 'em With lines you can draw a picture and much, much more You can paint a picture with colors galore Lines, lines we couldn't do without them The color, the shape, the texture - ahhhh 'ya got a love 'em. My Beautiful Mom by Heather Age 6
Mom tomorrow will be A beautiful day There's pink in the sky With a little gray How does the ski get that way I wish I was a bird I would take my crayons And write a word A beautiful rainbow I'd color for you With a hint of sunlight Shinning through And then all the world would see What the word "MOM" means to me. The Bear and the Bees by Pamela Age 12
A bear came here one year, He said he came by fear. He didn't tell me what, though, scared him out of Muttno. Finally then he said, he got scared in his bed. He said a swarm of bees, attacked him from the trees. They got him on the bum, so he threw at them gum. The Snowstorm by Samantha Age 10
It started as a flurry, Just a few little snowflakes. Cheers fill the air, As the whole neighborhood wakes. The wind whistles with delight, As the storm starts to grow. The storm stops promptly, Leaving the world covered in snow. Freezing rain started to fall, Freezing everything in sight. A tree groans in despair, As the rain pounds with delight. As night falls, The rain stops. The tree groans once more, Before it tragically drops. As quickly as it came, The snow is gone. In the middle of summer, Snowstorms don't last long. happy face by francheskaa Age 9

I listen carefully, To the sound of an old door. I listen carefully, To the sound of a rusted pipe. I listen and listen but still no love in the sound. AMERICA by Matthew Age 13
Our country is the best, And now we cannot rest. Terrorist thought they took us down, But they only united our town. They did it to our best city, And now for them we have no pity. President Bush is our leading man, For it is he who will take out the Taliban. Sharks by Andrew Age 13
Down in the ocean deep Sharks hunt, eat, and creep In hiding they always lurk The point of living is to hurt. All day they look for fish Though killing is their only wish But they don't do it for the taste They only do it for the waste. They may eat a whole school But the ocean they will never rule For the fish will always cope The shark can't take away their hope. Life Is Tough by Jamie Age 12
Life is tough,we deal with it. You should always keep trying, you should never quit. People die it's part of life. Don't mourn forever, don't show strife. Divorces are painful, for anyone to bear. But just remember, they'll always be there. Break ups, hard to get over, but maybe you just weren't meant to be. There are other fish in the sea. Life isn't all about sports and hair. Or even, what you should wear. You have to work hard to understand things. They won't fly straight towards you with magnificent wings. But never give up, reach for the stars. Don't let tragedies leave forever scars. The Wind by Leah Age 10

You’re my wings, You’re smile is like a gentle breeze; Over cervlean seas I soar with ease, upon dreams of you. You’re my flame stroked high, to make day of midnight. You’re my heaven and mysterious moonlight, Through black velvet twilight To the early morning sunlight I treasure these dreams of you, You’re the melody's that strokes my heart Makes everything feel right You’re a rose both red and white, My fiery passion, My angle of light I cherish these dreams of you. Never shall this blossom fade. Though bitter winter winds Harsh summer sun light Through bright morning spring days Long fall nights You’ll be my rose My melody My moonlight My heaven My flame My wings The greatest delight You’ll always be my everything As long as blue jays sing, The earth’s rebirth marks every spring I’ll live for these dreams of you. October Short Stories: The Animal Castle By Jordan Age 10 Far, Far away there lived a very unfriendly alligator named Spike. Spike did not know anyone in his kingdom because he had just moved there from a place called Means Town. "No wonder he is so grouchy all the time" said a small rabbit named erora. Another animal named crock was also very rude and liked this Spike dude. Every time he tried saying move out of my way and hi, spike just looked at him wisely and stepped forward to talk but only growled fiercely! Spike also wanted to say hi but he couldn't talk! "Oh No" he thought to himself,"What will I do now! all The other animals think I am mean and grouchy! Boo hoo hoo!" He cried to himself. One day crok came to spikes home and said,"We need to teach you how to talk!" What? Spike thought. How did he know?He must be magic! I will let him teach me! Then we can be good friends! " Ok the first thing you need to know is how to say hiya! K? Lets say it together"Crok said. Hi-Ya! Again-Hi-ya! They said together. "oh my goodness" spike said. "I can talk! Once I got the first word out it was easy! I can talk!" They celebrated all night and became very close friends. After that night, the animals did not talk bad about him, they talked good!
Angel's Wish by Carleena Age 12 Angel was walking down the street one day from school and saw a cat. "Hi little kitty." Said Angel. "Are you lost." "No." said the cat. " Is there anything I can do for you?" said Angel. "No." said the cat. "My name is Angel." said the little girl."My name is Tom and I'm a wish cat." "A wish cat?" said the girl, puzzled."Yes!" said the cat. A wish cat is a cat that can grant you any wish that you want. That or you can come to my world." To your world!" replied Angel. A cloud came down from the sky. "Please sit down on the cloud" directed the cat,Tom. Away they went. Angel started to see lots of other cats. "This place is called Cats and Kittens." said Tom. There they got a balloon and played cat games. Tom saw that Angel was having fun. "Would you like to stay here with me in Cats and Kittens? he asked. "No," replied Angel. "But I would like to go home now. My mom must be worried about me. So they hopped on the cloud and she went home. She made a promise not to tell anyone about Cats and Kittens. "Good-bye Tom, and thanks for everything." Tom waved and soon disappeared in the sky. Happy Halloween! by Ashley Age 11
Once upon a time there was a girl named Judith Dunns and she was 15 years old.She was turning 16 the day before Halloween so normally she would get a Birthday/Halloween Party. The day that her Birthday was on her mom would wake her up and say," Happy Birthday!"Then she would bring her into the kitchen where 10 perfectly wrapped presents would lay but this time she wasn't woke-up or found a kitchen full of presents. She didn't want to pressure her mom into where her presents were because what if she forgot or was low on money. She figured that it was just a short delayand atleast one surprise would come today. She waited all day...not a word. She fell asleep crying her eyes out. Then in the morning (Halloween) she went into the kitchen and her mom sat 3 waffle's neatly placed on top of eachother on one of the plates. She slumped into the chair and started eating it piece by piece.Later she went to her friends house because they had to plan what places they were going to trick or treat at...an hour later she went back to her house into her room and "Surprise!"There were about 20 wrapped birthday presents on her bed and all of her friends. She gave her mom and dad a hug. That what they had done had surprised her so much that she almost went to the bathroom in her pants. From that day on she never thought that her parents forgot her Birthday. My Best Friend Amy by Crystal Age 10
There was something about her that everyone loved. Was it her smile? Was it her face? Was it her personality? Nobody knew. It was just simply Amy. I always admired her. The way she always knew the answer. The way her face lit up the night air. She was my best friend.Amy was the coolest girl in town. Everyone wanted to be her friend. Luckily I was. She looked out for me. She helped me through my hard times. She was the one who made my life work. One day she went over to her friend Bethany's house. Bethany offered her a cigarette. From what she told me she took a puff and threw it away. I didn't believe her. Because the next day I saw her smoking in a vacant lot. I thought I was mistaken But I wasn't it was Amy. Her mom told me she was allergic to nicotine. One day things changed. Amy no longer had her bright blue eyes or her pretty face. She was sick. Sick with Leukemia. As I look back I still remember this day. Amy laid in the hospital bed looking helpless. This was definitely not the Amy whom I was friends with. This just wasn't the Amy who helped me overcome my fears. It couldn't be. It just couldn't. The doctor told me it was from frequent smoking. Frequent smoking? I thought. It couldn't be possible. Then the doctor showed me what was in her pocket, it was two packs of cigarettes and a lighter. I couldn't believe it. And I didn't want to either. Several months later Amy was in serious condition. The doctor didn't let anyone see her but her parents. Amy of course had to quit school which was a sadness to her. She had always dreamed of attending Harvard Law. It was awfully quiet in school, because of Amy's absence. A year had passed since she had been diagnosed with cancer. My life was in ruins. Not having Amy around was worse than not having my mother around. One day when I went to see Amy the doctor told me she was getting better. Could this possibly be!! Amy was recovering! Thoughts raced through my mind and my heart leaped with joy. Amy was coming back! Coming back to be my friend. Coming back to protect me. But my thoughts changed once I saw her. She was sitting in bed just staring. I said hi to her and she looked at me. "Hi Crystal" she said quietly. I asked when she was getting out. "The doctor in two weeks." replied Amy. When I left the hospital that night I thought about how she sounded. She didn't sound like the Amy I used to know. Two weeks passed. Amy came home. When I first saw her she was in a wheel chair. The doctor said that since she is recovering she needs to stay in a wheel chair. My friend Amy might have survived Leukemia, but she changed so much. Now all that mattered to her was not getting sick. She constantly looked out for her health. Amy didn't care about being popular or making good grades anymore. To her that was the small things. She had grown meaner and bossier to all of us. Amy wasn't the girl she used to be. Nobody loved her as much. Amy's life changed because of a cigarette. Don't do this to your life it will change for ever. The Scariest Monster I've Ever Seen by Alex Age 11
One dark Halloween night in 2001, the scariest monsters walked the streets while witches and goblins roamed the air, laughing their cackling laughs. An owl hooted up in the top of a slender tall tree. Monster mother and monster father ran to keep up with their little monster who was running in his costume, collecting candy door to door. I was dressed up as a human. My brother always copies me on Halloween so he was a human, too. But anyway, this was only the start of when I started seeing the scariest monster I have ever seen. My brother Harry Monster, my Mom, my Dad, and I were running to the last group of haunted houses when I saw it out of the corner of my eye. Something moved in the bushes. I rummaged through the bushes. Nothing was there. I tried to forget it but I could not. My family and I were at the last haunted house when I saw it again, except this time it was closer than before. It was creeping closer, but then it started to run away. I darted after him, but only to find he had run into the not so haunted house. I was scared. I heard something behind me. I turned around to see my friend Barry. I did not want to tell him I was scared because he has been known to be a blabber mouth and I could almost hear the kids at school saying that I was a scaredy-pants. Barry came up to me and said, “What are you doing?” I didn’t answer. I just walked towards the not so haunted house. I could hear Barry saying, “Let me come in too just in case something happens to you.” We started into the house. I could barely see Barry’s green scaly skin and sharp pointy triangles going from his head to the tip of his tail. Barry and I walked as slowly as a snail, but with a smooth pace. We walked through a windy hall. I came to a room with something soft and comfortable to sit on. On the side of the soft thing it said, “couch” and on the “couch” there was an odd remote control. I picked it up and touched one of the 50 buttons. Suddenly, a bright light came on and there was a human in a box. Barry said he had seen one of these before and it was called a TV. What a funny name! We walked into the next room which had a white rectangle in it. I dared to open it. Finally, I got the courage to open it. Then I saw it again. This time I pretended not to see it. It came closer. I heard Barry yell and run away. The thing ran away. I stayed in front of the rectangle, gaining courage. I opened it, and a sudden cold breeze came out of it. It was filled with food and drinks. I was hungry, but I would not eat that food. I eat bugs and insects and I did not want to get the thing mad. I walked on into the next room where there was something that was familiar to me: a table. I did not go in that room because I was too busy pondering which way to go; upstairs or take a left. Eventually, I went upstairs. When I got up, there was a wall to the left of me and a wall in front of me. I took a right, but when I turned, there, right in front of me, was a real live human! I screamed and so did the human. I was so scared, I fell down the stairs backwards and got up to see the human’s hand outstretched to help me up. As I got up, I was trembling with fear. I was so scared that I couldn’t move. My heart pounded so fast I was surprised that it didn’t come out of my chest. Suddenly, without any notice, he jumped out at me. I don’t know why, but I ran upstairs and hid under the human’s bed. The human came upstairs into his room and went to bed. I wanted to run away, but a bigger human was coming up the stairs, and this one had longer hair. The little human told it to check under his bed for monsters. I was afraid to think that there were humans under his bed. The big human checked under the bed. I dashed into the closet. Ever since, I’ve been trapped under the bed or in the closet to avoid the humans. And that is the scariest monster I’ve ever seen! The Fairy Shoes by Anna Marie Age 13
Anna and the fairies were preparing for the glorious war with the Paridents. The master general announced war would begin at dawn. Dressed in her magnificent battle armor, which she afterwards learned was totally useless in this kind of war, she wondered how she had gotten this far. It all started when she received her birthday present from her great grandmother on her 12th birthday............ "Wow, Maremy, a pair of cool shoes, I can't wait to try them on," said Anna. "Well, these aren't just any shoes, they're magic shoes," said Maremy. "Yeah, whatever," said Anna unbelievingly. Still the shoes had a weird out-of-this-world look. The shoes were an iridescent color. While Anna sat admiring the shoes her friend Kate yelled through Anna's window, "Hey, Anna. Happy birthday. Come on, let's go to the park." "O.K.," Anna hollered back. I can't wait till Kate sees my new shoes, thought Anna. As she put on the shoes, suddenly she felt a weird sensation as she was magically transported to The Land of The Fairies. "Cool, and I thought nothing cool ever happened to me," said Anna. She looked around her and saw that the entire city was populated by tall, beautiful, winged creatures, human-like in form and shape but inhuman-like in grace and beauty. Afterwards, Anna learned that they were fairies. Out of the corner of her eye Anna noticed a middle-aged fairy woman was crying over what appeared to be a proclamation of some sort. "What is wrong?" asked Anna. "The Paridents are coming! We have only six months to move to the stronghold at the castle," replied the lady. The lady was so distraught that she didn't even notice Anna's lack of wings or her particular looks. "What or who are the Paridents?" asked Anna. "They're sniff evil, sob they're horrendous, they're sniff sniff sob barbaric, they're ssnnnniiiiifff the Bad Guys," answered the fairy lady. Hmm, thought Anna, six months isn't much time but I'll train for this war anyway. And so Anna trained hard for six months in The Land Of The Fairies, preparing for the war. And now Anna is in her battle armor with the sun just peaking over the horizon and the Paridents just over the next hill. Anna walked bravely to meet her foe. The drums were beating, all hearts where pounding. As the fairies and Anna walked over the hill they got their first glimpse of the Paridents........................... WHAT? They're all in uniforms and holding footballs? That's right, the Paridents don't want to fight, they want to play games. They are not a barbaric people, they're a fun loving people. And so it came to pass that the Pari-Fairy Games were begun and every six years Anna puts on the Fairy shoes and watches the Pari-Fairy Games.
